You will need to backup your Skype messages so that whenever something happens to your computer, you'll be able to restore them. This is essential, because more and more people around the World are using Skype as an online collaboration tool and lots of info is being kept in Skype message history.
How to copy / backup / restore Skype message history in Windows 7 and Vista
Skype holds the message history in this folder:
C:\Users\<windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Skype
This applies to both, Windows 7 and Vista. To backup things up, just copy the whole Skype folder to another location or use automated backup tools like Cobian Backup to automatize the backups.
You can use this also, when moving user profiles from one computer to another or to copy Skype messages on the same computer from one user to another. It has been tested and works.
